Changes to the Home Owner Grant Program Now in Effect!

The Province of British Columbia is delivering the Home Owner Grant program for the 2021 tax year. BC municipalities are no longer accepting Home Owner Grant applications. All eligible home owners are now required to apply directly with the Province online or over the phone at 1-888-355-2700 to claim their grant. The grant must be claimed on or before July 2 in order to avoid a penalty on the Home Owner Grant portion of your taxes.

All Home Owner Grant applications, regular (basic) and additional (senior, veterans, persons with disabilities, living with a spouse or relative with disabilities) are now required to be made directly to the Province at www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant.

I Applied Last Year, Do I Need To Apply Again This Year?

Where Do I Get A Grant Application? (if not claiming online)

The best time to apply is after you receive your property tax notice in the mail and before your property tax due date.

    1. Wait to receive your property tax notice in the mail.
    2. Keep your property tax notice on hand. It has important numbers you’ll need to apply.
    3. Once applications open, you can apply quickly and easily online.
    4. If you’re unable to apply online, call the Province at 1-888-355-2700 for assistance.
